Easy Vegan Apple Peanut Butter Wrap

Fun for kids of all ages an apple peanut butter wrap is an easy vegan recipe that's sure to please even the pickiest of eaters in your family. Ok, maybe not to start with...

I have a confession to make. When I first thought up this delicacy my daughter looked at me like I was nuts. I, on the other hand, thought it was the most brilliant thing I'd ever come up with.  What's not to love? It's warm peanut butter and apples without the mess of dipping or smearing the peanut butter on the apples.  Don't you just love apples dipped into warm peanut butter at snack time?

Then, to keep me happy, she took a nibble off the end of my wrap and her attitude changed.  Her eyes lit up and that slow smile that says "Can I have one?" spread across her face.  All you parents out there know that look.  Sweet victory was mine!  I'd gone from nut-job to brilliant Mom over the course of one tiny nibble.  Honestly, what more can a frazzled Accidental Vegan Mother ask for?

Here's What You Need For A Vegan Apple Peanut Butter Wrap

  • 1 Burrito size tortilla (we like whole wheat or multi grain)
  • 1-2 TBSP peanut butter
  • 1/2 Apple chopped

Fun additions…

  • Raisins
  • Sprouts
  • Raspberries
  • Blackberries
  • Fruit puree

Core and chop half your apple into fine bits. (Put half the apple into a baggie and stick in the fridge for later if you're not making two wraps)

Spread peanut butter onto your tortilla. (For a whole host of reasons we like Teddy All Natural Peanut Butter).

Warm peanut butter loaded tortilla in microwave for 15-30 seconds. Just enough for your peanut butter to get warm and the tortilla soft and pliable.

Sprinkle chopped apple evenly across the warm peanut butter. (Add any optional additions now)

Roll up tortilla and enjoy!

If you're taking this on the road I suggest doing a burrito roll by tucking by folding up the bottom of your tortilla before rolling it up. This way none of the gooey peanut butter goodness will drip out and down your shirt as you nom happily.

One of the nice things about wraps rolled like this is how portable they are. So we often make them when we are in a hurry and heading out the door. Because, let's face it, sandwiches drip! And who wants sandwich schmutz all over the car?

As always, share with us what you think and what tweaks you make to this easy vegan recipe to make it your own. Because pooling our know how makes it ubber easy to "Kiss Meat Goodbye One Recipe At A Time!"

I’ve been having a hard time getting out of the starting gate with all of this, I think I’m stuck! I haven’t really had time to get my Vegan “thing” together. For now, what I need are a lot of things that are easy to put together, with ingredients that are easy to find and for them not to be too time consuming. So far it looks like this might be what I need. Thank you. – Stuart

Hi Stuart! We’re so glad to have you with us. I found being vegan a challenge when I first made the mental switch, too. Just wanted to put that out there so you know you’re not alone and to thank you for helping us to help you. When folks like you let us know what your challenges are we are MUCH better able to serve your needs.

The thing to do is take it one step at a time. First, decide if you want to replace all the non-vegan stuff in your home all at once or as you use it up. Both ways work just fine. Which you chose just depends on your views on such things. For me, I hate waste and am not rich so I replaced non-vegan items like shampoo, mayo and such with vegan versions as we used it up. I know other folks that once their eyes were opened, could not stand the thought of these things being in their homes and tossed it all out in one day.

As far as food goes, there are a lot of already vegan or “accidentally vegan” things out there for you. We have a growing list of articles on this topic here. More will be added in the near future. PETA put together a pretty good list of accidentally vegan foods you can see it here .

If you have recipes you already love to make why not just veganize them? Here is our list of vegan cooking substitutes so you can keep on enjoying your favorite dishes… just in a cruelty free way.

Thanks again for reaching out. We’ll put out some more simple to make but tasty recipes real soon.
