With warm days and picnics incoming I thought it'd be a good time to bust out some vegan coleslaw recipes! I'm pretty sure just about everyone here in the States loves this stuff. I'm the exception here, it seems. I've never been a huge coleslaw fan, but I know a lot of people who do! My mother included. And that's why I decided this post was important to do.
Plus, I've discovered that I enjoy asian themed slaws with sesame sauce and mandarin orange slices instead of the mayonnaise or vinegar based slaws of my youth. So, I've included some of those in here as well, for those of you who are like me and don't enjoy the more traditional coleslaw! Or just want to try something new.
Here we have a more traditional mayo based vegan coleslaw! It's got a healthy twist though, given that it's totally raw and wonderful lady over at Healthy Blender Recipes makes her own vegan mayo for it! She left the coleslaw recipe itself simple, but actually suggested adding things like brussels sprouts or pumpkin seeds, which I have to admit, does sound like a good addition to this kind of salad!
Here's a recipe that I thought sounded delicious and looked beautiful! It's from the two fabulous ladies over at Glamorous Bite! It's got sesame seeds, lemon zest, some soy sauce and garlic. Honestly, it just sounds like some kind of cabbage heaven. Even "I" could dig into this lovely summer cabbage salad!

Here we have another traditional, vegan mayo based coleslaw recipe for you guys to try! It looked good and certainly got my mothers stamp of approval! This recipe is from over at Follow Your Heart, so you guys should go check that out! It's got quite a few comments saying how good it is, so I have high hopes for this! And doesn't it look pretty in that bowl?
Here is another vegan slaw recipe that I thought would be absolutely delicious! It's creamy and has some spice to it! Not only does it have cabbage in it, but there are also sweet potatoes in this southwestern coleslaw recipe! I have to say, I actually really want to try this really yummy and pretty recipe from Eat Within Your Means!

I admit, I kind of want to try this one even though it is still a bit more on the traditional coleslaw side of things. It's got some granny smith apples, they use cashews to get that creamy texture and then put in some vinegar for that tart taste. Which I personally think would go really wonderfully with the apples and cabbage! Good going to the folks over at Gluten Free Vegan Pantry!
This one sounds like a sweet and salty bowl of deliciousness, I gotta say. This isn't your ma's coleslaw, but it'll be a really good and healthy twist on it! Now, the No Fuss Vegan just uses carrots, cabbage and red cabbage, but I could see how adding some brussels sprouts, seeds, maybe even a few dried cranberries for a tiny little punch of sweet here and there!
