Seriously, anyone still wearing leather in this day and age is going to be falling behind like a proverbial dinosaur. The new durable, light weight BREATHABLE synthetic materials these women's hiking boots are made of jut leave the older, heavier leather boots in the dust. But you don't have to take our word for it. Scroll down and see for yourself.
TrekSta Women's T746-Evolution Mid GTX Light Hiking Shoe
Ok, ladies these TrekSta boots are the Editors' Choice of 2011 for a reason! They are light weight little powerhouses of comfort and function. Women wearing them on 4-5 day hikes thru rugged country report they are well waterproofed and very comfortable. Though they may take some getting used to because whey they say they "cradle" your feet they really mean it. So if you are used to some "slosh" in your shoes these may not be the boot for you. Perhaps this is why some women report they run a little small.
Seriously ladies, you don't need me to tell you that if you are planning a multi day cross country hike you want to get your boots at least a few weeks ahead of time and WEAR THEM around. Honestly, two days into a five day hike is not when you want to find out your new boots give you blisters!
Comfortable vegan hiking boots, Merrell pulled it off with these women's boots. They require very little to no breaking in. They are cozy right out of the box, which, if you are in a hurry is pretty nice. They are durable and water resistant too, with good support through your arches and ankles. Plus, they are vegan, so how can you go wrong there?
J-41 Women's Srina Boot
Warm without being too much for hot weather women from as diverse places as Colorado and Australia report these vegan women's hiking boots are their favorite shoes. We love the more traditional leather like look and the fancy stitching on the uppers. To us this gives them a "past meets future" look. It has been reported that these boots are not warm enough for really cold weather but best suited to spring/fall or early winter hikes.
Adidas Terrex Swift R Mid GTX Shoe
Adidas is a leader in sports gear for a reason as these vegan women's hiking boots show to a "T". The styling is very hip and now. They make great use of all the lovely lightweight synthetic materials of today. Lined with Gor-Tex these little babies are seriously waterproof! Many customers report they are so comfortable that they simply LIVE IN THESE SHOES! You can't get higher praise for a hiking boot than that.
Vivobarefoot Women's Synth Hiking Boot
Our last offering is a cross between a sneaker and a hiking boot. We include this because we've had many women tell us they don't like something coming up and over their ankles when hiking, especially in the warmer months. These are totally vegan, sturdily built and meant for tough use. They have great traction and if you aren't going to be walking thru snow drifts will keep your feet warm and dry even in winter.
For those of you looking for a true "barefoot" feel it has been reported that these are a little more stiff than folks are used to. We are not sure if this is because of the vegan materials these boots are made of or if it's a function of the need to make them waterproof. In any case, they ARE very comfy, light weight and attractive vegan women's hiking boots that come it two colors.
Maria
Hi there! I appreciate your post as I’m gearing up for a trip soon and want 100% vegan boots. Unfortunately the Ahnu Women’s Sugarpine Hiking Boots are NOT 100% vegan. Upon further research, I found that the manufacturer states that they are NOT a part of their vegan line. Just wanted you to know so we don’t spread misinformation. I’m starting to feel like true vegan hiking boots are like looking for a unicorn. ;p Namaste.

Hey Maria! We’ve reached out to the company and will update our post once we have the details on the boots in question. Thanks for your diligence and for letting us know. We appreciate you.

My husband typed in Womens Vegan Hiking Boots into Amazon.. the Ahnu’s were the first to pop up. He didn’t look at the details very closely (he’s a guy… it happens) so when we received them, the first thing I did was check the tongue where it read LEATHER.
I’ve seen them advertised as Vegan on other sites such as this.. and am thoroughly disappointed.
They were a birthday/Valentines day present for us to go on a beautiful hike with… but I don’t care to carry around a dead cow with us….
Please update your site.

We are very sorry about this! When we had originally featured these they had said that they were synthetic. We have updated the page! Thank you for letting us know, we appreciate it.

Very useful. Would love a roundup of winter boots (as in waterproof and good to -30C). A real struggle for Canadians.

That’s a really great idea! We’ll see what we can find and do a roundup as soon as we can! Thank you for bringing it to our attention, I bet that is a huge pain for Canadian vegans.
